Achieving Passive Houses with Timber Construction
BWK and SUNBRIGHT development Co. Ltd. Join Forces to Build Taiwan’s First Timber Passive House
BWK and SUNBRIGHT developement Co. Ltd. are collaborating to develop Taiwan’s first timber-structured Passive House, scheduled for completion in 2027. This project represents a major breakthrough in construction methods. Transitioning from traditional reinforced concrete (RC) structures to timber construction is not only a change in material choice but also a challenge in both design and construction processes.
From sourcing the timber, precise assembly of metal connectors, placement of shear walls, to ensuring overall structural stability, every step tests the coordination and expertise of the design and construction teams.
Furthermore, to meet Passive House standards, insulation and airtightness techniques must be carefully re-evaluated and optimized. The goal is to achieve the best balance between environmental sustainability and high energy efficiency.
We look forward to unveiling this innovative timber Passive House in the near future, opening new possibilities for green building in Taiwan.
